These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of SciStreak, a literature-tracking and quiz product operated by [TODO: legal entity name, e.g. SciStreak UG] ("we", "us") at scistreak.com. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use SciStreak.
1. The service
SciStreak surfaces recent peer-reviewed scholarly papers and generates short multiple-choice questions (MCQs) tied to those papers. It is intended as a continuing-education and literature-discovery aid for clinicians, researchers, and students.
2. Educational use only — NOT medical advice
SciStreak does not provide medical, clinical, legal, or professional advice. Summaries, MCQs, and ranking signals are algorithmically generated from public scholarly content and may contain errors or omissions. Do not use SciStreak to make patient care decisions, drug or dosing decisions, or other consequential choices without consulting authoritative primary sources and qualified professionals. Your use of any information from SciStreak is at your own risk.
3. Your account
- You sign in with a Google account. You are responsible for keeping that account secure.
- You agree not to share your account, impersonate others, or create automated accounts.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the service (rate-limit violations, scraping, attempts to extract content outside intended use).
4. Intellectual property
- Paper titles, abstracts, and metadata are sourced from public scholarly APIs (OpenAlex, Crossref, arXiv, PubMed, and others) and are subject to those sources' licenses. SciStreak redistributes only what those licenses permit.
- SciStreak's software, design, and the MCQ stems / teaching points it generates are the property of [TODO: legal entity name, e.g. SciStreak UG] and may not be copied or redistributed in bulk without permission. Sharing an individual question with a colleague is fine; scraping the question pool is not.
- Anything you submit (e.g. a flagged question, a comment, a correction) you grant us a non-exclusive license to use to improve the service. You retain ownership of your input.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or systematically download content.
- Use the service in any way that violates applicable law, infringes intellectual-property rights, or harms others.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or data.
- Resell, sublicense, or commercialize the service or its content without our written permission.
6. Service changes & availability
SciStreak is offered "as is" during stealth. We may change, pause, or discontinue features without notice. We do not guarantee uptime or that historical content will remain available indefinitely. We will, however, notify you before permanently shutting down the service so you can export your data.
7. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, [TODO: legal entity name, e.g. SciStreak UG] provides SciStreak without warranties of any kind, express or implied, and disclaims all implied warranties (merchantability, fitness for purpose, non-infringement, accuracy of content). Our aggregate liability for any claim related to SciStreak is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or EUR 100. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages.
8. Privacy
Our handling of your personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
9. Termination
You can delete your account at any time from settings or by emailing us. We may terminate your account for violations of these Terms. On termination, your account data is removed per the retention timelines in the Privacy Policy.
10. Changes to these Terms
If we change these Terms materially, we will notify you in the app and via email at least 14 days before the new version takes effect. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [TODO: e.g. Switzerland (Canton of Basel-Stadt)], without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of that jurisdiction. If you are a consumer in the EU, mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence still apply.
